Goldsmith Construction has built an excellent safety and health record. As we have grown, we have continued to enhance our safety program to allow it to grow with our company.
Our initial safety program was a small, verbally oriented program that was successful for the small numbers we maintained in and 1980s.
The program has seen many changes, predominantly in the past six years. We realized that our safety and health program had to expand at a ratio greater than our growth if we were to improve our EMR rates, employee awareness and worth to our clients.
During this expansion period, we have enhanced our employee training to include:
40 Hr HAZWOPER
8 Hr HAZWOPER Refresh
Trenching/Shoring Comp.
Hole Watch
Confined Space
Crane Operations
Bobcat Training
Forklift Training
Scissor and Manlift Training

We are constantly striving to improve our employee safety and health training so that we may be able to protect our employees, our clients and the public. We do that by constant safety evaluations, learning by our mistakes and utilizing as many training techniques as possible.
Goldsmith maintains its compliance with the Department of Transportation requirements for transportation and pipeline work, and remains active members of the L.A. Clean Card program administered through ASAP Drug Solutions.
Our employees are drug and alcohol tested in both DOT and LACC random test pools. Each random program requires fifty percent of the employees be tested each year. The combined programs require one hundred percent of the employee numbers be tested each calendar year.
We have also just recently completed final review and approval of our Injury and Illness Prevention Program and Safety and Health Manual from the California Department of Occupational Safety and continue to maintain a yearly excavation permit through DOSH as required.
Our safety and health program is not static and will continue to be enhanced in the coming months and years. It continues to serve the better health and safety of our employees and increases our worth to our clients.
We belong to PICS (Pacific Industrial Contractor Screening). Their services standardize and centralize the contractor qualification process for our consortium members, lessen the administrative burden on contractors, and minimize the safety incidents for the contractors and operators.
We also belong to ISNetworld another Contractor Screening Service. ISN collects safety, procurement, quality and regulatory information from thousands of contractors and suppliers, compiling the data into the largest database of its kind. ISN’s subject matter experts review and verify self-reported contractor and supplier information, incorporating a level of due diligence to assess the accuracy, relevance and timeliness of the data. ISN creates valuable partnerships by connecting corporations with safe, reliable contractors and suppliers around the globe.
